Jay-Z / Eminem Concert at Yankee Stadium was Amazing!

by ADMIN on SEPTEMBER 14, 2010

I went to the historic Jay-Z / Eminem concert last night at Yankee Stadium and it was simply amazing. This post will in no way do the concert justice (this guy gave it a shot), but I can say without a doubt that it was the best thing I’ve done in New York City to date.

Seriously, it was awesome!

When I arrived to Yankee Stadium it was raining, but that didn’t dampen the mood too much. I think the general mood in the air was, “who cares, this is going to be an amazing show and we’ll just get wet.”

Luckily, the rain only stuck around for about 15 minutes and then it was nothing but an afterthought. The show got started just after 7:30 and went on until shortly after midnight.

I like all genres of music, but from a hip hop standpoint, last night was huge. Notable names that performed with either Jay-Z or Eminem include, 50 Cent, Dre. Dre, BoB, Kanye West, D12 (Eminem’s original crew) and… Beyonce. I had no clue all of those additional artists were going to be there, so it was quite a treat.

I had the chance to interview 50 a couple times during my former career as a Top 40 DJ so it was cool to see him on stage last night. I wonder if he remembers when I rapped for him… ha!

I’m writing this at around 5:45 am (went to bed at 1:30) and like I said, there’s no way this post is going to do the show the least bit of justice, but trust me – it was one of the most incredible spectacles I’ve ever seen.

There are a couple short video clips (heads up on language if you are at work) below along with some photos. Make sure you watch the Jay-Z clip, you’ll get an idea of the energy that was felt at the show. Feel free to click over to this Facebook album to see more photos.

Eminem and Jay-Z Show at Yankee Stadium

by ADMIN on SEPTEMBER 13, 2010

Shortly after moving to New York City I learned that two of my favorite artists, Eminem and Jay-Z, were going to be putting on a show together… at Yankee Stadium.

To my understanding tickets sold out extremely fast for the show and the tickets I’ve seen for sale at some of the re-sale sites are extremely expensive.

Last night, shortly after Eminem performed on the VMA’s, I decided to check out to see if any single tickets were still available (sometimes they release additional tickets or singles are overlooked for “sale outs”).

Luck was on my side and it looks like I’ll be attending the show tonight; even better, I’ll be sitting in the second section of seats away from the stage, which means I’ll be sitting field level!

Yes, the tickets cost a bit of change, but as I was mulling over the purchase I thought to myself, “You have to live every day to the fullest and not let opportunities pass you by.” Not a bad motto to live by.

Ballet at the Metropolitan Opera House

Share Going to a ballet is definitely not something I do on a daily basis – or really ever done for that matter. It’s also not something that I ever anticipated going to last week… but I did. Late one afternoon a friend sent me a text inviting me to a ballet at the Lincoln Center’s Metropolitan Opera House (MOH). It was a last minute type of deal, but the ticket was free and given that I’d never been to the Lincoln Center it seemed like fun, so I said, “I’m game.”

I couldn’t take photos while the show was going on, but I did take a few shots of the auditorium (which was very nice) and a couple outside. Click the photos below to enlarge them.

The ballet had three different acts (is that what they are called?), all of which were very different. It was quite amazing to see how effortless the dancers made the various movements look… and the music was equally as good.

I’d suggest you check at a ballet at the MOH if you have the chance – you won’t be disappointed with the quality of the show. And you’ll get a little culture (that’s for the tough guys that don’t watch ballet) as well.
